About COVID-19

COVID-19 is a respiratory illness caused by the emergence of the coronavirus, a family of viruses that can infect human and animal populations. This disease can cause mild to severe illness with individuals age 65 and older typically experiencing the deadliest symptoms and outcomes. As the CDC and the world at large continue to learn more about COVID-19, how it spreads, and its effect on people of all ages, our highly trained team continues to follow the most up-to-date safety protocols to ensure the continued health and wellness of our patients. We’re also proud to perform diagnostic testing for anyone who may be exhibiting symptoms of the illness or those who noticed symptoms in the past but failed to receive testing sooner.

COVID-19 Symptoms

Those infected with the new coronavirus can exhibit a range of varying symptoms over a 2 – 14-day period while some individuals may not experience any symptoms at all. Some of these symptoms include:

Coughing

Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing

Headache

Sore throat

Muscle pain

Chills

Fever

Sudden loss of smell or taste

What Does Testing Entail

There are two types of diagnostics that can be performed to detect COVID-19: a viral test and an antibody test. The viral test is effective in detecting an existing condition while an antibody test can determine if a patient had a previous illness based on the antibodies present in the blood. Viral testing for the new coronavirus varies, depending on your location.

At University Urgent Care, we’re proud to perform antibody tests in patients who are noticing the signs or have experienced symptoms of COVID-19 a few weeks prior but were unable to acquire testing sooner. To conduct antibody tests, one of our physicians will take a sample of your blood to look for igM (immunoglobulin M) and igG (immunoglobulin G) antibodies. The presence of these structures can tell us if the body recently fought off an infection and may help our team determine if you were a carrier of COVID-19.

I was seen immediately and only stopped at the examination room to drop off my purse and followed the x-ray gal directly to the x-ray room, got the images, saw the P.A. who advised I go to ER hospital for a CAT scan. The P.A. provided paperwork for the hospital to get the preliminary x-ray results.

After attempting to find a dentist for 2 days I walked into this urgent care facility and they took awesome care of me. I had an abscess tooth, I got a pain shot and first dose of antibiotics there and prescription for more antibiotics and mouthwash. There was no wait really and the staff were all very friendly. It was an overall pleasant experience and made my horrible day a lot better.
