Are you unsure of where to go to get a sports physical during the COVID-19 pandemic? At University Urgent Care in Fort Worth, TX, we understand that many of our patients are hesitant to visit our college urgent care center. However, during this time, we still provide professional medical care to our local community. We closely follow all CDC guidelines to keep our facility safe and clean. Our ER doctors and nurse practitioners work hard to ensure that we maintain a clean office, both during and after the pandemic for our patients. We sanitize our waiting rooms and exam rooms in between all patients, regardless of their reason for visiting us. We also work diligently to reduce the risk of coronavirus transfer at our urgent care college clinic.
Many middle and high schools require that student-athletes provide proof that they are in good health to participate in extracurriculars. This sports physical is a routine examination performed at our urgent care center in Fort Worth, TX. We serve the Frisco Heights, TCU, Tanglewood, and Paschal neighborhoods, and offer comprehensive medical care, including school or sports physicals, for all students. You should bring the necessary paperwork that will be needed to be filled out by our University Urgent Care physicians. This allows us to know which tests are required by your school.
We will discuss your medical history and lifestyle habits, including your diet, and if you smoke. We also will discuss vaccines to help determine if you’re behind on any necessary ones. We will conduct a vital check to look at your blood pressure, weight and height, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates. We will look at your general appearance, including your head, neck, abdomen, limbs, and hair. We will look for any abnormalities. We may test reflexes, balance, posture, joints, and flexibility to determine your student’s eligibility to participate in sports.
What is an annual physical?
Annual school physicals allow both parents and physicians to detect medical conditions before they advance. Comprehensive school physicals will look at the student’s well-being and determine if their health is declining in any way. Tests will be done to determine their eyesight, hearing, cognition, and their range of motion. If your student wears contacts or glasses, you should bring them to your visit.
This annual physical is a good way to check your child’s health to look for any changes. Yearly exams track their height, weight, and growth, all of which can be indicators of health problems. If you have any concerns about your child’s health, you should prepare a list of questions to ask one of our ER physicians during the visit. If any changes have occurred with your family’s medical history, please alert our staff so we can note them in your child’s file.
Schedule a physical at our urgent care facility in Fort Worth, TX
When your middle or high school student needs a physical for sports, we can help. Ultimately, a sports physical isn’t as in-depth as a regular physical. The only requirement for a sports physical is that the child examined is healthy and can participate in the sport they’re requesting their physical for. An annual physical will go more into their medical and family history. At University Urgent Care, we can provide both types of physicals. Beat the rush, and call today to schedule your physical!
