Seeking Medical Care
If you begin to notice the above symptoms and believe that you may be dehydrated, you should cease activity and seek rest and shade immediately. If possible, we recommend drinking fluids high in electrolytes or water. If after a period of rest and rehydration your symptoms do not subside or become worse, we recommend you seek immediate medical attention. If you’re experiencing a combination of symptoms combined with chest pain, your condition should be treated as an emergency. Upon arrival to our facility, our skilled staff will quickly assess your symptoms, discuss your medical history, and determine the best course of action for your treatment.
What to Expect
If your condition appears to be severe, you will be instead be turned over to emergency care. If your symptoms are stable, our staff will begin dehydration treatment following a panel of tests. Our laboratory is state-of-the-art and features technology capable of producing results in as little as 15 minutes. After determining that there are no underlying serious medical conditions, we will begin treating you with intravenous rehydration fluids, the most common and successful option for dehydration. These intravenous fluids are a combination of sodium and chlorine which will replace the lost electrolytes. Depending on our lab findings, further treatment may be necessary.

Rehydrate and Recover
Hangovers are a symphony of unpleasant symptoms associated with the influx of toxic compounds that comes with drinking alcohol. The accumulated compounds cause inflammation, mess with your immune system and hormone balance, and upset your body in all kinds of other ways that aren’t even fully understood; scientists have spent years looking for a surefire salve for the common hangover, and they haven’t found a perfect one.
With that said IV therapy uses modern science to help alleviate a hungover person’s nausea, headache and dizziness by reversing the dehydration caused by drinking.
Here’s how it works: the primary ingredients are sugar, salt, potassium, and water. The water obviously rehydrates you, while the sugar helps pull the salt and potassium into your body to replenish electrolytes that have been lost due to dehydration. Add a mild medication for nausea and viola! That’s it.
For ill effects associated with occasional alcohol consumption, University Urgent Care offers an IV hydration solution backed by advanced science. We don’t endorse heavy drinking or claim to cure hangovers, but our patients find confidence in having a trusted rehydration solution that works
Loss of body fluids from sickness, heat, or excessive activity is a common occurrence. However, when your body loses too much fluid and it is not quickly replaced, you can become dehydrated. Untreated dehydration can cause severe repercussions and should not be ignored or waited out. If you are suffering from signs and symptoms which may suggest that you are dehydrated, we recommend you seek treatment at your earliest convenience. University Urgent Care is conveniently located in Fort Worth, TX, serving the greater DFW area with superior urgent healthcare services in a quick and efficient manner.
