How does urgent care work?

Coronavirus testing in Fort Worth, TX

There are two types of coronavirus tests we use to test for coronavirus in Fort Worth, TX:

  1. Viral testing: The viral test can detect an existing infection. We use a nasal swab to collect secretion in the back of your nose and upper throat. This test is for those who may be currently infected and may be contagious. The virus can be detected 2 – 3 days after exposure. Most patients receive their results in 3 – 5 days.

  2. Antibody testing: Antibody testing determines if someone had coronavirus before. We take a blood sample looking for immunoglobulin M (IgM) and immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies. The presence of either will tell our medical staff that you have previously fought off coronavirus and that you’re a carrier of COVID-19. This test cannot detect antibodies until at least 10 days after your exposure. You can expect your test results within 2 – 4 days. Most major insurance providers cover this test.

At University Urgent Care, we perform coronavirus testing to those with or without symptoms of coronavirus and who were unable to be tested, or for those who were exposed to someone who tested positive for coronavirus. A member of our staff will call you with your report so you don’t have to visit our facility again. However, we do suggest that you self-quarantine until you receive your results.
