Project Description

WHAT ARE SKIN INJURIES?

While some skin injuries can be treated at home, if your condition is not improving or you have signs of an infection, professional medical care may be needed. A skin injury, such as a rash or a reaction to an insect bite or poison ivy, can be assessed and properly treated at University Urgent Care (UUC) in Fort Worth, TX. Convenient to the local neighborhoods like Frisco Heights, Paschal, Tanglewood, and the Texas Christian University (TCU) campus, UUC is open 7 days a week with no appointments needed to treat skin injuries. Our experienced care providers can help alleviate the pain and discomfort of skin injuries.

DO I HAVE A SKIN INJURY?

If you are concerned about any mild or moderate skin injuries, seek treatment at UUC. With our onsite lab, we can effectively diagnose and treat rashes, insect bites, and reactions to poison ivy. Our experienced team will help manage any pain or discomfort to help you heal faster.

Acute Rash

  • Visit UUC if your rash is still active after 7 days or gets worse. You should seek medical care if you have a fever or you are in pain.

Insect Bites

  • An insect bite may need medical attention if you experience nausea, vomiting, wheezing, intense itching, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, or other signs of an allergic reaction. You may also want to visit UUC if you are concerned that the insect might be poisonous, or carry a disease like Lyme disease or West Nile Virus.

Poison Ivy

  • Contact with poison ivy or poison oak should receive medical attention if it is on your face (especially your mouth or eyes) or genitals. You should visit if you have a fever, headaches, or if the rash has pus.

HOW ARE SKIN INJURIES ASSESSED?

Skin injuries will be assessed and diagnosed by a member of our medical team to determine the best treatment. You will be asked about the origin of the injury and any related symptoms or reactions to help understand the injury. Additional tests may be performed at our certified laboratory to check for an infection or other concerns. A treatment plan will be created to help improve the injury and to manage any pain or discomfort.
