About the Technology
An ECG, or electrocardiogram, is a painless test which measures the electrical activity of your heart in order to show whether it is functioning normally. During this test, leads from the machine are attached to the skin of your arms, legs, and chest with adhesive patches. The leads will send activity levels to an electrocardiograph, which will show the activity on a screen or a sheet of paper. The results, shown in peaks and valleys, will allow our medical team to interpret your heart activity to determine if there is a condition which should be addressed.
Cardiac Monitoring Technique
From evaluation to diagnosis, our facility prides itself on providing thorough and comprehensive care. If you believe you may be suffering from a heart condition, cardiac monitoring is an extremely important part of proper diagnosis and treatment. At University Urgent Care, our physicians are board certified in emergency medicine and understand the urgency present in heart conditions. During routine heart monitoring, it may be possible to detect diseases and abnormalities of the heart that might otherwise go unnoticed. For patients with chest pain or heart issues, cardiac monitoring is vital to deciphering the root cause of the symptoms.
What to Expect
If upon your arrival to our facility we deem your situation too severe for urgent care treatment, we will assist you in transferring to a qualified emergency room or hospital room in a time-efficient manner. Through a series of carefully arranged agreements, our connections with area hospitals allow us to transfer you, skipping the waiting room, to a inpatient hospital room without delay.
